The work experience section of a CV is often one of the most important sections, as it highlights your professional history and achievements. This is where you help the recruiter understand how you got to where you are, by conveying your professional journey. After having read your work-experience section, the hiring manager should not think that you are competent. They should know it.
Start with your most recent job: Begin by listing your most recent job and work backward in chronological order. Include the job title, company name, employment dates, and a brief description of your role. Ensure that the description is relevant for the position you are applying to.
Highlight your achievements: Don't just list your job responsibilities, but also highlight your achievements and contributions in each role. Use specific examples and metrics to demonstrate your impact. For instance you can use numbers and data to quantify your accomplishments whenever possible. Also, focus on keeping it as concise as you can, otherwise the recruiter will just be overwhelmed.
When you have written down all your experiences, with respective descriptions, then it is time to make it into a story. Try bringing the experiances into a journey that will show how you have grown into the person you are today. If you succeed with this part, then you have more or less convinced the recruiter that your resume is genuine and that all your skills and competencies are to be trusted. Storytelling is a powerful tool indeed.
